So I just got Julian Casablancas (Frontman of The Strokes) debut album, "Phrazes for the Young" and I gotta say it's a bit different. There is a lot going on musically:keyboards, percussion like no other, synthesizers with a classical tune which I really enjoy thanks to Mrs. Simon, my 7th grade teacher who would make her students listen to Mozart. Let's just say everytime I give this record a listen, I hear some instrument I hadn't noticed the 1st time around. These songs are reminiscent of the New Wave music that came out during the 80's so naturally I dig it being that I was influenced by my parents and their musical tastes. Although it may sound like a Duran Duran album, it stays true to the modern era with it's catchy melodies, vocal tuning, simple lyrics and the songs never seem to end like the way they start. I can see some shred montages being edited to some of these songs
